Enhancing Your Figure Through Breast Augmentation and Lift

A breast augmentation and lift can be the procedure to correct both of these concerns. There are different types of lifts available to meet each patient’s individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Breast Augmentation and Lift (Mastopexy)
Below are some frequently asked questions about breast augmentation with lift. These are designed only to provide you with general information regarding this procedure. We will provide you with extensive information during your complimentary consultation in our Baltimore office. Any further questions or concerns may also be addressed at that time.
Where do you put the breast implants?
Implants can be placed either in front of or behind the chest muscle. Breast implants placed under the muscle require a slightly longer recovery time.
What will my recovery be like?
Generally, you should be able to return to your daily routine after one week. Athletics and other strenuous activities should not be resumed until a minimum of one month has passed.
Will there be scarring?
Depending on the type of lift you need, the incisions will vary. Some patients require only minimal incisions. This will be explained in detail during your consultation after Dr. Basner determines what lift would be best for you. The doctor will make every effort to ensure that your scars are as inconspicuous as possible. It is important to remember that breast lift scars are permanent. They may be swollen and red initially, but they will gradually become less obvious and eventually fade to narrow lines. The scars can generally be hidden beneath your bra or bikini top.
Will my insurance cover this procedure?
Insurance does not cover cosmetic breast implants or lifts. Although the need for a lift may result from pregnancy or large weight loss, it is still considered cosmetic.
How do I know if breast augmentation and lift is right for me?
If you have lost volume and firmness in your breasts, this procedure may be right for you. Some women know for certain they need a lift before they come in for consultation. During your consultation, Dr. Basner, a leading Baltimore breast augmentation specialist, will determine if you should consider a lift. In some cases only a minimal lift is needed.
