"I had a tummy tuck and liposuction to my waist and back. I had 2 c- sections and my stomach looked horrible. The skin was saggy and I had stretch marks. I couldn’t believe how much better I looked after the surgery. My stomach was flat and the stretch marks were almost all gone. It was amazing! I look so much better in my clothes and I went down a size! What a great experience!!"

"I had bariatric surgery almost 2 years ago. The weight loss was great but I was left with excess skin everywhere. I saw Dr. Basner and his experience with weight loss patients was evident. He knew exactly what I wanted and we made a plan that worked for me. I had to plan my surgeries in stages to make it safe and manageable. My first surgery was tummy tuck with liposuction to my waist and a lower body lift. I couldn’t believe the difference. My clothes fit so much better and people think I have lost more weight. I can’t wait to have the next stage – I am so excited!"

"After having three children, my body was not the same. I was referred to Dr. Basner for a tummy tuck by my obstetrician. When I saw Dr. Basner, I knew he was the Dr. for me. He explained everything to me and even had a patient call me who had the same procedure. I decided to have some liposuction of back and thighs at the same time. I am so glad I did! The whole experience was so much better than I would have ever imagined. The staff was so nice to me; they even called the first few days after surgery to see how I was doing."

You long for tight abs and a washboard stomach. But no matter how many sit-ups you do, no matter how carefully you watch your diet, it never seems to get as flat as you want it to. The circumstances may be beyond your control. Weak muscles, weight changes, pregnancy, and even the simple fact of genetics can cause your stomach to protrude. If the skin and muscles have been stretched, diet and exercise may not be able to help you achieve the look you desire.

Having children took its toll on my figure. Even though I lost the weight after having children, I just didn't get my shape back. After my tummy tuck, I feel like myself again." -M.S.
Baltimore, Maryland, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Adam Basner can reshape your abdominals by tightening the muscles and removing excess tissue and skin through abdominoplasty. This procedure is not a substitute for weight loss, but can reshape a flatter, smoother stomach that has been unresponsive to diet or exercise.
Below are some frequently asked questions about abdominoplasty. These are designed only to provide you with general information regarding this procedure. We will provide you with extensive information during your complimentary consultation in our Baltimore office. Any further questions or concerns may also be addressed at that time.
You can expect to feel some discomfort or pain following your procedure, which can be relieved with medication. After one week, sutures and bandages will be removed. You may need to wear a support garment for several weeks thereafter. We also use an intermittent pain pump to make recovery easier.
You should avoid strenuous activities such as heavy lifting and vigorous exercise for several weeks. Dr. Basner will determine when it is safe for you to resume your normal activities.
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved such as infection or bleeding. However, complications are rare.
This type of surgery will result in a permanent scar, and based on how much reshaping is involved, it may be rather lengthy. However, every effort is made to hide the scars in the bikini area, and they will fade in time.
The best candidates for abdominoplasty are those of normal weight who have weak abdominal muscles and excess skin and fat that have been unresponsive to diet or exercise. It is not recommended for women who are planning to become pregnant in the near future. If you are physically and emotionally healthy, and realistic in your expectations, this procedure may be right for you. Find out more by scheduling your complimentary consultation now.
