Baltimore Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure for reducing either the labia minora (the skin surrounding the vaginal opening) or the labia majora which are the external folds of skin surrounding the structures of the vulva.

The indications for the surgical correction of over-sized labia include

  • Tearing and stretching caused by childbirth
  • The correction of congenital defects of the vulvo-vaginal complex
  • Cosmetic refinement.

Labiaplasty allows patients to have:

  • Reduced discomfort during intercourse
  • Improved cosmetic appearance of large labia
  • Reduced discomfort from clothing
  • Improved self esteem

Labiaplasty is usually an outpatient surgical procedure performed under anesthesia. After surgery, the patient might experience some mild discomfort and variable inflammation of the tissues, which usually subside and disappear within one to two weeks.
