Otoplasty / Ear Surgery

Otoplasty, more commonly known as ear surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure that is used to set back prominent ears or restore normal appearance to oddly shaped or deformed ears. Ear surgery involves a small incision just behind the ear, through which excess ear cartilage and soft-tissue is removed. The majority of otoplasty Baltimore patients are children and young adults between the ages of 4 and 14 years old.

Otoplasty is frequently sought by patients who suffer from naturally prominent ears or those who have cupped or shelled ears due to a birth defect. Ear surgery can also involve prostheses for patients who are missing all or part of their ears as a result of a birth defect or traumatic injury.
