In a recent study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), statistics have shown a dramatic rise in the number of mastopexy, or breast lift, procedures. In fact, since the year 2000, the number of breast lifts has since grown 70%, almost surpassing the number of breast implant procedures. Is this a growing trend in breast enhancement operations?
Breast Lifts Are More Popular Than Ever
The ASPS study showed that while breast implants are still the most common of breast cosmetic surgeries performed in women, breast lifts are becoming increasingly popular. Breast lift cost is cited as one of the main reasons for the rise in the number of procedures performed since 2000. Breast augmentation surgeries are costly and with the recent economic state of the nation, more and more women are searching for alternatives. Breast lifts have become the preferred alternative as a way for women to rejuvenate and revitalize their original breast size, look, and feel. The ASPS indicated that, while breast implants are still popular, breast lift procedures are being preferred as they provide an overall fuller augmentation versus just an increase in size.
New Technology Leads To Breast Lift Popularity
Breast lift procedures have also been cited as a safer method of breast augmentation given recent advancements in technology and the introduction of new products used by skilled plastic surgeons. In 2013, the FDA approved a number of new plastic surgery devices and products designed to treat mid-face volume loss.
