Want to look your best for the holidays? Now is the time to start planning for cosmetic treatments to refresh your look. While the timing of any cosmetic service will of course depend on booking and availability, here are 4 things to think about if you are considering plastic surgery for the holidays, or during the holiday time-off from work:
1. Plan for a recovery, including downtime. For cosmetic surgical procedures, you will need to take time to rest and recover. This usually means staying home from work, and generally taking it easy around the house. For some people, particularly those who don't have many get-togethers planned, the time right before the holidays can be a great opportunity to schedule a surgery: You can use the time off to rest without using all your paid vacation from work.
2. Dermal fillers allow for immediate results. Unlike surgical procedures, dermal fillers provide immediate results without downtime. You are likely to experience slight swelling and bruising for a day or two after the injection, so it's best to schedule the appointment a few days in advance of any event or get-together.
3. BOTOX® should be administered a few weeks ahead. BOTOX® Cosmetic, like other injectables, doesn't require time off from work or other activities; however, BOTOX®, while it does provide a certain degree of immediate effect, produces an ideal effect starting at 3 weeks after the injection appointment. So you may want to plan accordingly.
4. Breast augmentation requires some planning. Breast augmentation and other surgical procedures require more planning than non-surgical treatments. Once the surgery is performed, you'll have a week or two of downtime in which you'll need to take it easy. After that, you will experience swelling for a few months. It also takes a few months for the breast implants to settle into position. For that reason, you may want to think about the winter or spring at this point, for the timing of your breast augmentation.
