Hi, I’m Dr. Adam Basner and I’m a board-certified plastic surgeon. In this video, I’m going to talk to you about eyelid surgery and eyebrow surgery also known as eyelift and browlift. These are some of the smallest, easiest procedures we do in plastic surgery with very quick recovery, usually just seven to ten days with really minimal pain and suffering. Having said that, even though they’re small surgeries, they actually make quite a significant difference in your appearance and the reason for that is when someone’s looking at you and talking to you, they’re always looking you in the eye. So, relatively small changes there can make a really significant improvement to your appearance. Aging in the eyelid area causes a lot of effects that people don’t like. It can make you look tired. It can make you look sad. It can even make some people look angry. And the surgery that corrects this gives immediate improvement that lasts for ten to fifteen years. People are often unclear when they have excess skin in the upper eyelid region whether they need their eyelids done or a brow lift. The way to tell what’s causing the excess is to have someone close their eyes and feel where their eyebrow is relative to this bony rim. If the eyebrow is at or above the rim the excess is caused from the eyelids. If the eyebrow has dropped down below the rim the excess is caused from the descended brow and then a browlift is needed. Some people just need one and some people really do benefit from both procedures at the same time. During your personal consultation I will be able to examine you and tell you clearly what’s best for you. Excess fatty tissue in the lower eyelid can often cause a very tired appearance. The eye itself sits inside the bony orbital rim and there is a shock absorber cushion of fat around it. As we get older some of that fat often bulges forward causing a bag underneath the eyelid that gives a very tired appearance. Removing that excess fat, and maybe tightening the skin a little bit, immediately restores a more youthful look. Recovery from eyelift and browlift surgery is very easy. There is minimal to no discomfort. Many people don’t ever take a pain pill. Tylenol usually suffices. There is however some bruising and some swelling and it does take about seven to ten days until you’re back to work or back out to seeing friends and family without anyone ever knowing what you had done. Please take a look at my before and after photographs. See that we can get beautiful, natural results with eyelid and browlift surgery. Our goal is that no one would ever know you had this done when they see you after the procedure. If you are interested in either of these surgeries please contact my office and we will be happy to arrange a personal consultation. Thank you.
