Lower Body Lift

Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Serving Baltimore, Columbia, Owings Mills, Towson, Nearby Maryland & Lower Pennsylvania

You lost all the excess weight, but what is left behind is a lot of sagging skin. Now, no matter how often you exercise, how you diet or what creams you use, you can't shrink the loose, sagging skin. This problem is common for people who have lost a lot of weight, and particularly those who have undergone bariatric surgery.

With a lower body lift, Dr. Adam Basner can completely reshape your lower body. To schedule a cosmetic cosmetic consultation with Dr. Basner, please call The Plastic Surgery Center of Maryland at 410-616-3000.

What Does a Lower Body Lift Do?

A lower body lift can improve the following areas:

  • Inner thighs
  • Outer thighs
  • Back of the thighs
  • buttocks
  • Abdomen
  • Hips

Dr. Basner can dramatically improve your body shape by removing, repositioning and tightening the loose, excess skin. The lower body lift enhances your lower body and can be done in one surgical appointment. If you have hanging, extra skin around your lower body, then a body lift may be right for you. You may simply be displeased with the way the loose skin looks, or you may even have problems moving because of it. Some of our patients get rashes and skin irritation because of the chafing of excess skin.

People of many different backgrounds come to Dr. Basner for lower body lift surgery. Many people seek this type of surgery because of the effects of:

  • Weight loss
  • Bariatric surgery
  • Aging
  • Pregnancy

Especially after bariatric surgery or another means of weight loss, it can be devastating to see the loose skin that results. A lower body lift has the advantage of letting you see the true results of your weight loss by sculpting and better defining the curves of your body.

Individualizing your Lower Body Lift

The lower body lift procedure varies slightly by what you want to achieve. A circumferential incision is made around your lower body, from which the hanging apron of skin is removed. The skin on your buttock and thighs is then lifted and sutured into a smoother, tighter position. The scar left by the incision can generally be hidden beneath swimsuits and undergarments.

Body lift options include:

  • Combined with liposuction: If there are areas of excess fatty deposits around the lower body lift treatment area, then Dr. Basner may recommend removing the fat with liposuction to create a more congruous, comprehensive result.
  • Combined with a tummy tuck: If you have protruding skin around the abdomen, then a tummy tuck can be combined with your lower body lift.
  • Combined with inner thigh lift: Dr. Basner may recommend also lifting the inner thigh and groin area.
