When your neck begins to age, you can feel devastated by the effects. Years of sun damage and just the natural aging process can make your neck look aged, and the neck is not easily concealed like other areas of your body. Like your face, rejuvenating the appearance of your neck lets you look as young as you feel. To schedule a cosmetic consultation with our board-certified plastic surgeon Adam L. Basner, please call The Plastic Surgery Center of Maryland at (410) 616-3000. Dr. Basner has provided outstanding neck lift results from patients from all over the greater Baltimore area and the state.
What is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift may be right for you if you are unhappy with the appearance of:
- "Turkey wattle" of sagging skin beneath your chin
- Excess, sagging skin on your neck
- Loss of definition along your jaw
- Horizontal creases on your neck
- Vertical banding on your neck
Some people come to our practice and tell Dr. Basner that they have been told they cannot have a neck lift without also getting a facelift. This is not true. For many people, men and women alike, a neck lift looks great by itself. Many men request the neck procedure without a facelift. It's not that these procedures cannot be done independently, but that some people want continuity between the face and the neck. But if you are happy with erasing the wrinkles and sagging skin from your neck alone, a neck lift can easily be performed on its own.
Testimonial: After years of putting off “doing something”, a friend told me about Dr. Basner. I am thrilled with the necklift I received and look and feel much younger. I don’t have to worry about covering my neck anymore and can finally stop wearing scarves and turtlenecks!! The surgery exceeded my most hopeful expectations!!!
Neck Lift Cost
When performed by Dr. Basner, the average cost of a neck lift is $6,500. The only way to get an individualized cost estimate is to visit us for a consult.
The Neck Surgery Procedure
The entire procedure may take a 1-2 hours to complete. You will be under anesthesia and able to return home the same day as your surgery. Dr. Basner will make incisions behind your ears and under your chin. Then he uses these incisions to trim away the excess skin sagging on your neck. He may also reshape and rearrange the tissue and muscle underneath the skin to address vertical banding. Then, he will re-drape the skin and close the incisions. Because of where these incisions are placed, your scars from the procedure should be very well concealed.
