Did you know that there’s a way to reduce the size of your breasts that only results in a few tiny scars? Breast reduction using liposuction is much less invasive than traditional breast reduction surgery and may be a great choice if you have minimal sagging of the breasts.strapless-dress-woman.jpeg

If you have overly large breasts, they can cause physical discomfort as well as emotional distress. Dr. Adam Basner has years of experience helping women achieve the breast size and shape that they want, improving their comfort and quality of life.

If you are interested in breast reduction through liposuction or traditional surgery, please call Dr. Basner today at 410-616-3000 to schedule your initial consultation.

Is Breast Reduction with Liposuction Right for You?

Breast reduction surgery has an extremely high satisfaction rate. After breast reduction, most women enjoy benefits including:

  • Better-fitting clothes
  • Reduced back and neck pain
  • Easier time shopping for bras
  • Less self-consciousness when out in public

Dr. Basner performs both typical, full breast reduction surgery as well as breast reduction surgery using liposuction. Breast reduction with lipo is less invasive, but it is not for everyone. You may be a candidate if:

  • Your breasts do not droop or sag significantly
  • You do not need a breast lift
  • You are not interested in implants

If your breast skin is supple and elastic, it should be able to spring back into place after liposuction. However, if your skin is sagging or you have excess skin, a traditional breast reduction procedure is probably better for you. Liposuction will not lift the breasts or reduce excess skin - its only purpose is to remove fat.

Traditional Breast Reduction vs. Liposuction

Traditional breast reduction surgery is what the majority of breast reduction candidates would benefit from, as it is much more comprehensive and addresses not only excess fat in the breast but also excess skin and sagging. However, if you just want a small reduction of the fat in your breasts, liposuction has a number of benefits, including:

  • Less scarring
  • Less recovery time
  • No need for general anesthesia

Although traditional breast reduction surgery does result in more scarring than liposuction, it can address a much larger scope of issues. If your breasts sag significantly, only mastopexy surgery will be able to lift them into a better position. In addition, many women are interested in placing small breast implants in order to improve the shape of their breasts after a size reduction. This cannot be done with liposuction.

Dr. Basner will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each breast reduction procedure during your consultation, and will listen to your goals and concerns in order to choose the best treatment for you. He can answer all of your questions and recommend the procedure or combination of procedures best suited to achieving your goals.
